How often do you end up in a back and forth email conversation? Each message looking for clarification, agreement, and next steps? You end up with more questions, confusion, and at a total loss for what the next steps to take are.
This is really one of those moments where you should pick-up the phone and have a chat. Sometimes we need more structure to make that conversation happen and we may need to involve a few others too, this is when scheduling a meeting is ideal.
Did you know that in just a few clicks you can take that email thread and turn it into a meeting and keep the conversation as part of your invite? And as a side benefit of this trick you also clear out one more email from your Inbox!
There are a few ways you can do this and we'll cover all the variations another time, for now we'll look at the easiest and cleanest way to do it, just follow these steps:
Open or select the email you want to turn into a meeting
In the Message or Home tabs locate and click the Move icon
In the drop-down click on Calendar. If you do not see Calendar as an option then click Other Folder and then Calendar from the new window that opened
Complete your calendar details as per normal
If you needed to use the Other Folder to locate your calendar this time, you won't need to the next time. The initial list is Outlook suggesting where to move items based on your behaviour. It changes over time depending on what and where you are moving Outlook items.
